Drawing pirates is fun. Also, drawing facial hair is fun. The two seem to coincide often.
I've always loved this drawing, and have kept it in the rotatoin for an avatar/profile pic. I even threw
Peter Pan & Tinkerbell in there, for good measure.
I think it has some commentary on piracy in the music industry. I do play music but I don't have any recorded tidbits that could be considered plunderable treasure. And I never really jumped on the torrent bandwagon, so the illustration's message is up for interpretation. I really just wanted to draw myself in a pirate picture, I guess!
I have always loved this one! I like that the edges resemble a withered treasure map..great touch!
ReplyDeleteand LOL, self-burtraits.
what does the parrot's mug say? And I like how badass Tinkerbell is. Yay!
ReplyDeleteIt reads "Life's a Bi..." and the rest of the last word is conveniently out of sight.
ReplyDeleteI love this! So much detail!
ReplyDeleteI love his wild wild beard and
angry Tinkerbell!

This was always one of my favorites because I love imagining the six to eight hours that led up to this picture. As in traditional pirates capturing a modern young man and forcing him to walk the plank. What'd he do to deserve this? Were his shoes too complicated?
ReplyDeleteBut then I suppose the pirate look is timeless. Except for those ones near Somalia. They don't look like this.
I don't want to relive those memories, Tim! Damn me and my complicated shoes!
ReplyDeleteOMG! i've always seen this picture but i never actually look the time to really look at it and notice everything. It's soooo good!! i love tinkerbell!!! jeez why do you have all the talent
